Jennifer Wilson, Psy.D. LICENSED CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Dr. Wilson was licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in January 2007. She earned a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University – Illinois School of Professional Psychology, Chicago Northwest Campus on August 30, 2003. She earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 2001. She is trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
Currently, Dr. Wilson specializes in psychological testing using both
intellectual and personality measures to assist in determining proper
diagnoses and providing appropriate treatment recommendations for children,
adolescents, and adults. Assessment instruments include: WISC-III, WAIS-III,
Rorschach, TAT, MMPI-2, MMPI-A, Beck Depression Inventory, and more. Dr.
Wilson also provides psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, and
families with varied psychological problems including depression, anxiety,
and anger. Other issues include low self-esteem, emotional concerns, trauma,
and difficulty adjusting to life transitions.
As a post-doctoral resident, Dr. Wilson worked at Creative Psychology and at Janet Wattles Center in Rockford, Illinois. As an access center specialist, she provided immediate services to clients diagnosed with major mental illnesses (Major Depression, Bipolar I and II, Schizophrenia, etc.). Experience included are providing initial assessments, mental health assessments, differential diagnoses, and developing an individualized treatment plan for individuals aged three to sixty-five. As an intern at the Janet Wattles Center, Dr. Wilson provided triage screenings on a broad range of presenting problems and populations. She provided diagnostic assessments and differential diagnoses for children, adolescents, and adults varying in ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic backgrounds. She also provided individual psychotherapy and group counseling for adults utilizing Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), DBT, and EMDR. She co-led DBT skills groups for individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, and was a facilitator for Intensive Day Treatment (IDT) with clients needing emergency treatment and stabilization. She administered a wide variety of psychological tests to moderately and severely mentally ill clients with complex diagnostic presentations and provided treatment recommendations for them. She participated in DBT and EMDR consultation groups and provided supervision for psychodiagnostic and psychotherapy externs.
